The European Commission is planning to restrict maximum dosages (also known as maximum permitted levels or MPLs) of vitamins and minerals in food supplements across the European Union in 2009.  This proposed law is supposedly being driven by concerns about the safety of high dose supplements. The ANH shows how these concerns are unfounded and how over-cautious restrictions, based on use of bad science, could prevent consumers across Europe getting sufficient nutrients by way of supplements to restore or promote their health.  The same approach is in the process of being exported internationally through Codex Alimentarius.
